Polychain leads a seed round that takes Multiliquid to $8 million in total funding

Uniform Labs closed a Polychain-led seed round for Multiliquid that brings its total funding to $8 million, with Circle Ventures taking part. Cryptobriefing counts live liquidity above $20 million, a thin base for the case that tokenized funds wait on 24/7 settlement.

What happened

  • The $8 million spans a pre-seed and a seed round, according to Cryptobriefing, and the company did not disclose how much of it was the seed.
  • Multiliquid lets holders of tokenized money-market and treasury funds swap directly into USDC and USDT on Ethereum and Solana, in atomic transactions that settle at T+0.
  • The protocol launched on Ethereum mainnet in December 2025 and added an instant redemption facility on Solana in February 2026, built with Metalayer Ventures.

Why it matters

  • What's now possible capability The GENIUS Act bars payment stablecoin issuers from paying holders yield directly, so a treasury desk could keep cash in a yield-bearing tokenized fund and swap into stablecoins only when it must pay.
  • Who's exposed exposure Every Multiliquid route ends in USDC or USDT, so institutions that use it take on those two tokens as their settlement cash.
  • Who has to decide decision Asset managers choose whether to connect their funds to a router. Cryptobriefing argues a neutral venue that does not compete with them or favor one issuer makes that more likely.

Circle aims USDC at about 40 emerging markets from a 25% share of stablecoins

Uniform Labs has three employees and is based in Newark, Delaware [15]. According to Cryptobriefing, Multiliquid runs no single large pool of its own capital and works as an aggregator, with several liquidity providers quoting prices and competing for each swap [17]. The funding is meant to support development of the infrastructure [7], so on that description the more than $20 million of live liquidity [19] is other people's capital.

Set that $20 million against the market. RWA.xyz data, cited by Cryptobriefing, puts tokenized US Treasuries at roughly $14.9 billion [21], so $20 million is at least 0.13% of them [24] ("at least" because the source says liquidity exceeds $20 million) and about 0.05% of the roughly $39 billion total for tokenized real-world assets [25]. Both ratios overstate the gap, or rather they set a numerator covering a handful of funds against a denominator covering all of them. The managers named as supported include Wellington Management, VanEck, Janus Henderson and Fasanara [12], and the sources do not give the size of the funds that have routes.

The tokenized total rose about 53% between the start of 2026 and October [26], and Cryptobriefing wrote that secondary market liquidity remains a challenge because many products still depend on traditional redemption mechanisms [8]. Polychain founder Olaf Carlson-Wee described liquidity as the remaining bottleneck, news.bitcoin.com reported [5]. "Tokenization only matters if the assets are actually liquid," said Will Beeson, Multiliquid's founder and CEO [4]. One of them led the round and the other runs the company, so neither is an independent witness.

The swaps are atomic and settle at T+0, priced against each fund's net asset value [16][18]. In our reading, a provider who takes the other side of a swap ends up holding a fund share that still redeems on the fund's ordinary schedule, and news.bitcoin.com says conventional redemption can stretch across several business days [14]. An aggregator works only if enough market makers want to quote [23].

If providers arrive, live liquidity grows and the company's case holds; if they stay thin, the product is a small venue; and if fund issuers add same-day redemption to their own products (our addition), the router gets bypassed. We think the thesis is half right: the exit is slow, and the sources agree on that, but Multiliquid is only useful if enough liquidity providers quote on it. It fails if live liquidity is still near $20 million while tokenized Treasuries keep growing from $14.9 billion.

What to watch

  • Whether more asset managers connect funds beyond the JTRSY and JAAA routes added in September 2026.
  • How many liquidity providers quote on Multiliquid and what spread they charge against net asset value.
  • Whether fund issuers add same-day redemption to their own tokenized products.
