Prime's 8.1% three-year GLP-1 persistence figure comes from patients who started during shortages

Prime Therapeutics' study, reported in June 2025, found 8.1% of 5,780 non-diabetic GLP-1 obesity patients stayed on therapy for all three years. The cohort began in 2021 and early 2022 amid shortages, a weak base for projecting revenue or spend on patients starting after the shortages.

Lilly's amylin add-on pushes tirzepatide weight loss to 23 percent among patients who stayed on it

Eli Lilly's 367-person trial found the top dose of tirzepatide plus eloralintide cut body weight 23.3%, against 14.8% on tirzepatide alone. Dropout ran far higher on the combination, so nobody has yet measured how much of that gain holds across everyone prescribed the pair.

Retatrutide cuts more than a fifth of body weight in Lilly's phase 3 diabetes trial

Eli Lilly's retatrutide cut body weight by more than 20% on average at its top dose in an 80-week phase 3 trial of 1,152 people with type 2 diabetes. Lilly calls that a first for the field, and it gives the four- and five-receptor drugs now in development a figure to beat in patients with diabetes.

Tirzepatide activates brown fat in obese mice even when their food intake is matched

University of Barcelona researchers found that tirzepatide activated calorie-burning brown fat in obese mice eating the same amount as untreated controls. The result points to an effect on metabolism beyond appetite that has not yet been tested in humans.
