Ethereum's 256 ETH-per-epoch entry cap keeps 1.28 million ETH waiting about 22 days

Ethereum's activation cap of 256 ETH per epoch had 1,282,776 ETH waiting an estimated 22 days, 6 hours on Oct. 15, according to Validator Queue. EIP-8061 would speed exits but keep that limit, so new stakers still idle for about three weeks.

ENS Labs would hand its DAO every ENSv2 admin key under a draft that closes ENSv1 to new .eth names

ENS Labs posted a draft DAO proposal on October 11 to stop new .eth registrations on ENSv1 and activate ENSv2 on Ethereum mainnet. Existing owners could renew on v1 with no deadline, and the DAO would receive every ENSv2 admin role.

Ethereum's EIP-7906 assertions protect traders only when someone besides the app sets the floor

Ethereum's draft EIP-7906 lets transactions reject bad trade results, but only a floor set by someone other than the trade's builder protects users. What the proposal is worth to a trader depends on whether wallets and account providers write their own limits from prices the app does not control.

Buterin recasts Ethereum as a cryptographic computer aiming for 8-to-32-second finality

Vitalik Buterin's "cryptographic world computer" post sets a target of 8-to-32-second finality against the roughly 200 seconds 12 confirmations take today. The forks after Hegota would rebuild verification, consensus and block construction.

Buterin expects Ethereum's 2027 Hegotá fork to be the last one a 2015 user would recognize

Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum's Hegotá upgrade, planned for 2027, is likely the last fork that someone who knew Ethereum in 2015 would recognize. The work he expects to follow has no dates yet, so ETH holders are pricing a long rebuild of the protocol off a single milestone.

Ethereum's quantum plan gets a one-way switch: draft EIP would retire BLS for good

A contributor's draft would make the validator deposit contract variable length and add a mode to end BLS signatures permanently. It is unfinished, unnumbered, and aimed at a 2029 target that may move.

Glamsterdam hits Plataberget on August 20, and hardcoded gas limits are the first casualty

Ethereum's Plataberget testnet went live on August 17 in a pre-fork state, with the Glamsterdam fork three days later. Tools that assume a fixed maximum gas limit stop working correctly.
