A smaller GC trigger floor cut ParparVM's resident memory from 98 MB to 38 MB

Codename One went looking for stack allocation to explain Go's edge and ended up tuning when its collector runs. Three attempts to size the heap allowance from the live set failed because the sweep counters miss live objects.

G1 replaces Serial GC as JDK 27's default on resource-constrained systems

JDK 27 drops the automatic fallback to Serial GC on limited hardware. A JVM in a tight container now gets G1 unless an operator asks for something else, and compact object headers move footprint in the same release.

Java 27 couples post-quantum TLS 1.3 to two newly flipped JVM defaults

JEP 527's hybrid key exchange landed as a stable feature on September 15, and the same JDK makes G1 the collector on small machines and cuts every object header to 64 bits. Serial is still one flag away.

Structured concurrency reaches Candidate eight days before JDK 27 ships its seventh preview

JEP 543 proposes finalizing structured concurrency without change, but the last of its seven preview rounds is the one arriving in JDK 27 on September 15. Ahead-of-time code compilation sits at the same Candidate stage.

Java 27 makes G1 the collector on the 1-CPU container that used to get Serial

The non-LTS release is mostly two years of JDK 25 experiments switched on by default, and the flipped defaults change memory and handshake behaviour in small containers rather than adding syntax anyone will write.
